Why conserative Republicans are a danger to America

Soon I will be out of the political mindset, but before I am, I want to post my views of why conservative Republican policies are dangerous to America.

I have no problem with people being conservative, or Republican for that matter. In fact, when it comes to financial policies, I tend to be more on the conservative side. The problem comes in to play when these ideals are used as the basis for policy that affects all Americans. In America, we are supposedly free to worship as we please, and free to think as we please. This is generally true, but as policy changes or shifts to the right, it becomes increasingly untrue.

When lawmakers put their conservative or religious views behind their policy, they are in effect taking freedoms away from those that do not share their beliefs. When a conservative President starts using his religious beliefs to guide his decisions when it comes to the law, he is effectually restricting others the exact same rights which he is exercising.

Consider the debatable topic of abortion. By pushing for a pro-life policy, it removes the freedom to choose from those who want it. Whereas the liberal or Democrat policy of pro-choice does not infringe upon those who wish to be pro-life.

Consider the debatable topic of gay marriage. By banning gay marriage, you are removing the freedom to choose from those who want it.

Consider the topic of religion. People who are religious generally believe that their way is correct, that their beliefs are the right ones. Thus, when it comes to policy they will not consider alternatives. Whereas those who do not associate with a single religion do not close their minds to other options.

The list could go on. Of course financial topics are debatable, because once you are liberal on financial policy, the trend is reversed. You are essentially imposing payments on those who do not wish to pay. But I would bet that most people would not be opposed to liberal financial policies if they knew their money was actually doing some good! And as for gun control, who cares? Who really needs a stockpile of automatic weapons anyway? And moral values? Do people really believe that liberal Democrats are against family and moral values?

The difference I see is that for the most part liberal ideas don't punish or penalize or restrict those who are conservatives, and are generally open minded. Generally, liberal reforms or laws don't restrict conservative ideas or limit conservative freedoms. But the reverse is not true. Conservative ideas repress and attempt to control those who wish to be liberal.

I am one of those dangerous conservatives that you blog about. I own an ar15 .223 with a 40 rd mag. I own several firearms to boot. But to be honest I am more conservative than the conservatives that you post about. I am EXTREME right wing. ANd my opinion is that nuts and fruits are all you can find in cali. Thank God that I do not need a politician to make me feel secure. Heck, I do not even need weapons. All of my Political Beliefs are formed from the Morals I received by reading, studying, was taught from the BIBLE. Sorry, but it is the Truth. Sell your Cloak by a sword kinda guy I am. I am not too excited Bush one but I did cast my vote yesterday, only because of the Ammendment issue of Gay marriages. HA HA HA. 11 states!!!! Sounds like a Federal Ammendment is on the way. If you have not figured it out yet, Laws are in place to protect you from yourself or someone else. For instance it is against the law for Joe Blow to Blow your head off, but does this remove his freedom to choose to do what he wants? Your argument will not hold water, much less another thought in my head.

Consider this, the war we are in now to us or to the US is not a religious war, but to those we are fighting it is. When you fight someone and the believe their beliefs, culture, way of life is in jeopardy, they will fight you till the last breathing soul breathes no more. The war, in my mind, will last on into the next election because of this. My fear is that if Americans (Excluding Canadians and Mexicans) had to unite together to fight for something we believed in, it would not occur and the war would be over in no time. Today as it stands we are split 50 /50 and this means that we would be fighting one another as we fought whomever. This is why we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan. If we all shifted one way or the other the war would be over with either of two outcomes. 1. Liberal way, we bomb and feed and appologize, and rebuild and bomb the building that was just rebuilt, and blah blah blah and then we all die. 2. the ULTRA conservative way spend x amount of dollars on several bombs and level those people off the face of the planet. Don't bother paving it, just blow it off the map. <-------period)

I had a good rebuttal comment here and somehow I deleted it, and now I can't remember what it was...

Here, I found my rebuttal comment in a backup I had...

I supposed this post was badly titled. I should not have used the word dangerous, because that's not really true. I also know what topic to avoid in the future. It apparently struck a nerve with someone. (Read previous comment). But I supposed it got the point across.

To the above commentor, I have a few things to say:
    1) You can't spell
    2) California has much more than fruits and nuts. Many people could say worse things about where you're from.
    3) You say you don't need a politician to protect you. I never said that. In fact I never insinuated that. My message was the conservative right wing values impede on the freedoms of those who do not share the ideals.
    4) As for voting for Bush because of the gay marriage issue, Kerry was against gay marriage too. And if you were assuming I'm gay, I'm not.
    5) There is a huge difference between still being free to blow someone's head off and laws that are in place to protect people. I'm talking about freedom to choose to do something legally. You are partially right I suppose, but there is quite a difference between being free to choose to have an abortion and having it done safely and legally and being free to choose to have an abortion and doing it illegally and not safely.
    5) You are a bible toting religious quack.
    6) You are ignorant. (ie "level those people off the face of the planet")
