State of the Union ...
So this is a little late, but here's my two cents. Why do people put so much stock in political speeches? I mean, it's nice to listen to the speeches to know what was said, and for news purposes, but really, when Dubya gets up there and starts talking, do you really believe a single thing that comes out of his mouth?
Afterwards they always do those interviews and polls, to see if approval ratings changed and what people think. And there is always that question, did you hear what you needed to hear? I think the question they should ask is, "Do you believe what you heard?". Just because he says he's addicted to oil and we need to look into renewable energy sources, does that mean you believe that? They guy's an oil man! It's all just bullshit to try to sway public opinion.
Political speeches are just sales pitches. I mean really, press conferences, speeches, debates ... for the most part they're just trying to sell themselves. Then it's back to business. Lying and cheating and generally being pieces of shit.
