Once you think you've seen it all
Or at least most of it, you look over while walking into work to see someone washing their clothes in the fountain in front of Horton Plaza.
By the way, I've come to a conclusion recently, and it may get some debate, but after living in San Diego for almost six years, I have to say, it's not as nice as people think it is. Sure, the sun shines every day, and there are tons of hot chicks, but for a place known for it's beaches, they're not that nice. They are kind of filthy, though they are good for surfing, when you can actually go in the water because it's not too polluted that is.
And as everyone knows, San Diego is an insanely expensive place to live, so I suppose if you can afford a home in a nice neighborhood, you might think differently.
Also, now that I work downtown, I've realize how many homeless people there are. All over the place, even in the the so called "nice" areas of downtown. But after taking the bus for a few months, I have to say even downtown isn't that nice. Yea, there is the Gaslamp District and a bunch of great bars and restaurants, but the rest of downtown is kind of dumpy.
So to rehash, if you happen to have $500,000 sitting around for a starter home, and if you can manage to find a nice area that isn't part of soul sucking suburbia, then it's cool. Otherwise, you're kinda screwed. Ok, so living at the beach is great if you're young, but I'm not debating that.. I'm just debating that it's kind of dirty and not that nice.
