What would you do?

If you weren't afraid? It could be anything.

These are a couple of mine:

"I would quit my job without another one lined up, but I'm afraid of what would happen."

"I would fly somewhere to another country by myself, without knowing anyone there."

Update: The one above should read:

"I would change careers."

Leave a comment if you've got something that you would do, or if you've got some minor irrational fear that keeps you from doing what you really want to do in life. I'm going to try to start another blog where I want to try to compile some of these things. I think that everyone has little fears or phobias in the back of their mind that keep them from getting the job they want, or living the way they really want.

Comment here or email me, and I'll add them to my new blog, if you want leave your blog and I'll post that too... or anonymous if you like.

I'm in a bad mood today

I went out to get on my bike to head of to work this morning, and it was not there. Someone apparently stole it, right from next to my back door. The unnerving part is it is out of sight from the street, and out of view to someone walking past, even from the courtyard which is not even close to the street. Which means someone went into my complex, and was looking around enough to look into the alcove behind my back door to find my bike. The other unnerving part is that it is about 5 feet from my bedroom window, which means the person not only walked directly past my window, but also likely took my bike out past it again.

Motherfuckers.

Oh yea, 4 days ago my fiance's car was broken into.

I'm hating San Diego something serious right now.

Life Wakes Up Early

I got up this morning (Sunday), at about 7:30, to give myself time to get ready before catching the 7 bus downtown, to get to Santa Fe Depot to catch the train up to Anaheim for an Angels' game.

Whenever I'm up and out that early, I'm always shocked at how many other people are out and about. Not that they're up at that hour, I'm often up at that hour, but that they're out and don't look like they're dragging ass. The bus had plenty of people on it, there were people at all the stops, and downtown there were people out and about, and it appeared to be mid-afternoon in their world.

On Sunday mornings I usually get up around 7 or 8, make some coffee, clean up the apartment a little bit, read the paper, make breakfast, and if I'm lucky am out by 10 or 11.

I'm not writing any of this because I'm shocked that plenty of people are up and out by 8:30. I was however taken aback at how many of then didn't look like they were out for breakfast, coffee, or a morning walk, rather they seemed like they were just hanging out. Granted, they were not the soccer moms or the people out with their kids, instead it was a mix of street people and lower income looking people, with random others scattered in.

Anyway, it just made me realize that while most people are just getting up or relaxing at home, for others the wheels of life are spinning.

Balboa Park photos

Both these pictures were taken in Balboa Park.

This first one is from sometime in June. It's a huge tree, I think some sort of Fig Tree.

The second I snapped on my way home from work last week. When I ride my bike to work, I cut through the park.

And yet another public transportation story

I mentioned the other day that this blog could very easily turn into a "stories of public transportation" blog. Well, what I witnessed today was another new one.

Maybe a week or so ago I sat next to a guy on the bus, wearing athletic shorts and a little too small white tshirt. I was pretty sure he was homeless, since he was really greasy, had a beard, and had grass on his shirt which was evidence of some sort of sleeping or napping in the grass.

Well, the same guy got on today, reeking of alcohol, like the kind of reeking that you only get after a long hard day of drinking. He had cut off sweat pants turned shorts on, and what is apparently his signature too small white tee. He also had a baseball cap on, but the weird thing was that he had a monthly bus pass, which you normally don't see homeless people with. He was kind of yelling about random stuff to no one in particular. But the weirdest thing happened next.

He took lipstick out of his pocket. Put some it on, proceeded to kiss his hand to make sure it was applied evenly, and then he put some on his eyelids. He then put it back in his pocket and started talking/yelling to no one in particular. As I was thinking about it, I decided that he is either a gay homeless guy, or maybe a former crossdressing alcoholic, who's seen better days.

This, my friends, was a strange story from the city bus.
