Environmental and Social ResponsibilityI'm just an ordinary guy, and although I'm not out to change the world, I do want to try to make a difference. The point of this page is provide environmentally and socially responsible information and resources, including places to buy organic food, fair trade products, environmentally conscious products (clothes included), vegetarian/vegan and natural food restaurants, certain humanitarian and volunteer organizations, and product reviews. I have tried both Trader Joes brand and Seventh Generation Brand products, both seem to have different strengths depending on the product, but I give them both a thumbs up for trying.
- Seventh Generation Dishsoap - Biodegradable and plant based, works well!
- Trader Joes Brand Dishwasher soap - Doesn't seem to work all that well
- Seventh Generation Bleach - Biodegradable, non chlorine bleach. Well, it's made from hydrogen peroxide which is environmentally friendly and breaks down into oxygen and water, but it doesn't seem to actually brighten that much. Doesn't seem to be effective for cleaning in the bathroom either.
- Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent - Biodegradable and plant based, works fine
- Trader Joes Brand Laundry Detergent - Biodegradable and plant based, works great! This is what I now use.
- Green Mountain Coffee - Plenty of selections, even flavored. Very tasty... Try the blueberry!
Update 2/4/06: Just found out Green Mountain Fair Trade Coffee served at Brueggers Bagels - Deans Beans - All Organic and Fair Trade Coffee, Tea, Cocoa at very good prices
- Equal Exchange - Fairly traded coffee, tea, and chocolate. Look for it at your local market!
- Trader Joes - Organic Fair Trade Shade Grown Ethopian Coffee ... only $6.99 a pound!
